Ooty

Ooty is a hill station located where the Eastern and Western Ghats merge. This merger is marked by Dodabetta, the highest point in South India. Ooty sprawls over an area of 36sq km with tall buildings cluttering its hill slopes.

Ooty nestles in an amphitheatre created by four majestic hills: Dodabetta, Snow don, Elk hill, and Club Hill. These hills are a part of the Nilgiri ranges that are really the meeting point for the Western and the Eastern Ghats. The lush green serenity of these southern hills of India would be difficult to find anywhere else. For a summer of peace and uncluttered, cool days is what Ooty offers, with their resonant echoes of a rich and tangible Dravidian culture.

Chennai

Chennai formerly known as Madras is the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Popularly known as "Gateway to South India", it is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. With an estimated population of 7.5 million, it's the fourth largest metropolitan city in India and one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. Although the city has acquired a contemporary and cosmopolitan character, it still has preserved its traditional Tamil roots. It possesses a rich historical heritage which provides an incomprehensible charisma to the city.

Kodaikanal

Mahabalipuram

7th century city of the Pallavas, Mahabalipuram is a town in Kanchipuram district lying on the Coromandel Coast facing the Bay of Bengal with a population of 12,049. Famous for its various temples and other attractive features the city is also known as temple town of south Indian state of Tamil Nadu and considered pioneer in the Dravidian architectural style.

Yercaud

Located 1500 meters above sea level, on the Servaroyan Hills, in Salem District in Tamil Nadu, Yercaud is a hill station visited by tourists round the year. Yercaud (Yeri . lake, kaadu . forest) literally means. 'the land of lakes and forests' but it offers you more . coffee plantations, orange groves, temples and a wide gamut of wildlife, from bison to bulbul, from snakes to sparrows. You also find here deer, rabbits, hares, foxes, mongoose, squirrels, partridges, kites and swallows.

Coonoor

Coonoor is the first of the three hill stations of the Nilgiris. Situated at an altitude of 2000 ft and only 17km from Ooty, Coonoor is not a very commercialized place and retains a certain amount of untouched charm.

Kanyakumari

There is probably only one place in the whole world where one can witness the 'confluence' of three great seas The Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean and that place is Kanyakumari. Also known as Cape Comorin, Kanyakumari is considered the southern tip of India. Kanyakumari with its clean beaches, clear and frothing blue water attracts lakhs of tourist round the year. Tourists are also lured by the serene beauty of this place and the spectacles of sunrise and sunset.

Coimbatore

Coimbatore is situated in the western parts of Tamil Nadu. It is called Manchester of south India because of its cotton textiles industry. Apart from its textile factories Coimbatore is also known for engineering firms, automobile parts manufacturers, health care facilities, educational institutions, pleasant weather, and hospitality.

The rich black soil of the region has contributed to Coimbatore's flourishing agriculture industry and, it is in fact that the successful growth of cotton that served as a foundation for the establishment of its famous textile industry.

Udupi

Udupi is a coastal town in the western ghats region of Karnataka state. It's an old temple city and very famous for its 800 years old Shri Krishna Mutt temple. Udupi is also known for beautiful Malpe beach which is just 6 kms from Udupi city. Malpe beach is an ideal picnic spot with its virgin beach. The endless stretch of golden sand, graciously swaying palm trees, the clear blue sky and the gurgle of the sea all set the perfect mood for an unforgettable holiday here.

Madurai

Madurai town is situated on the banks of the river Vaigai in Tamil Nadu. Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. It is one of the oldest cities in South India whose history dates back to more than 2000 years old. Often known as the Athens of the East, the city comprises of a number of temples and historical monuments. Madurai has been the centre of learning and pilgrimage for centuries. Many tourists around the world visit Madurai to see artistic temples that speak about the architectural skill of the people in the days.

Rameshwaram

Rameshwaram is an island situated in the gulf of manner at the very tip of the Indian peninsula. It is separated from mainland India by the Pamban channel and is a at a distance of about 40 kilometers from the Jaffna Peninsula, Sri Lanka. Rameshwaram is significant for the Hindus. The presiding deity is the Linga Of Sri Ranganatha, which happens to be one of the twelve 'Jyotirlingas' of India. Rameshwaram is also popularly referred to as the 'Varanasi of the South' and pilgrimage to Varanasi is incomplete without a Pilgrimage to Rameshwaram.

Salem

Located in the north central part of Tamilnadu Salem is the fifth-largest city of the state. The word "Salem" literally means, "surrounded by hills". The city is surrounded by a natural amphitheater of hills formed by the Nagaramalai to the north, the Jeragamalai to the south, the Kanjanamalai to the west, and Godumalai to the east. It is divided by the Thirumanimuthar in the main division. The fort is the oldest building in town.

Kanchipuram

Known as the 'city of thousand temples' Kanchipuram located about 70 kms from Chennai, is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. Belonging to different dynasties the city holds 650 stone inscriptions in Kanchipuram. The temples here reflect the prime of life and efflorescence of Pallava art and the ornate and often imposing embellishments produced later by the Chola, Vijayanagara and Chalukyan kings. There is a solemn grandeur, a lavishness of vision and ornamental excess in the temples here. An incorporeal otherworldly stillness impregnates their vast inner domains where time is a captive fugitive.

Anaimalai

The village of Anaimalai is situated in the Coimbatore Hills district in the state of Tamil Nadu. It exists near an abundant supply of wildlife. Such animals as panthers, crocodiles, tigers, elephants, spotted deer, civet cats, and wild boars are found in the region. Numerous birds are also in the area. It is possible to spot such birds as the Malabar pied hornbill, black headed oriole, rocket-tailed drongo, tree pie, spotted dove, and red whiskered bulbul. In fact, the vary name of this village invokes thoughts of wildlife, since the name's translation means elephant hill.
