Jammu is beautiful city blessed by nature & situated at the footsteps of the mountains of the Himalayas. A beautiful & enchanting river called Tawi flows through the city. The second largest town in the state of Jammu and Kashmir Jammu city is situated on the south-eastern slopes of the Shivalik range. It is also the renowned winter capital of the state.
The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar is a scintillating hill resort located in the Kashmir valley. Lovely lakes and roomy houseboats, dry fruits, Chinar trees and traditional Kashmiri handicrafts are the highlights of the region. The Jhelum River runs through the city and the valley, emptying in the Wular Lake. The city at 876 km north of Delhi is famous for its nine ancient bridges, linking the two parts of the city. Srinagar is a city of natural wealth and is often referred to as the land of lakes and gardens owing to the abundance of both.
Amarnath the famous Hindu pilgrimage is located 145 km east of Srinagar in Kashmir. There is an ice Silva-linga here that changes size with the seasons, and also as the moon waxes and wanes it becomes bigger and smaller. On the full moon day the linga is about 6 ft high. It is located in a glacial valley at 4,175 m (13,700 ft.). The cave is about 150 feet high and 90 feet long. Within the cave there are four or five ice formations that resemble the figures of different gods. The biggest figure is regarded as Siva (Amarnath).
